South Australia’s economy is driven by small businesses with over 90% being Small to Medium Enterprises and a large number of them want to tap into State Government contracts. The Industry Advocate was established to support the thriving small business sector in the State.
The Connecting with Business Program builds relationships between key State Government buyers and locally based businesses to help them capitalise on opportunities to work with the South Australian Government.
The State Government is a large and complex organisation for business to navigate. A sound understanding of how the government works can be a key factor in whether business is successful in quoting or tendering for goods and services or construction works.
The Connecting with Business program includes the following initiatives;
SA Product Register
The SA Product Register helps raise the profile of local businesses so they can secure more work and create jobs.
Aboriginal Economic Participation
The Office of the Industry Advocate provides practical how-to guidance for Aboriginal businesses wanting to quote or tender for State Government work.
Supplying to Government Workshops
These free workshops are provided to help business operators learn more on how to be successful when tendering for government contracts.
One-on-One advocacy is offered to those businesses who have not been successful when quoting and tendering for State Government work – to assist those businesses reduce the barriers to working with the government.
